First Take

Right, so…

This is the first blog I’ve written in years. I mean, YEARS.

I’ve decided that this blog will be my thoughts, ideas, and experiences in almost a diary entry format—that's the plan for now, but who knows? It may change! Haha!

Suddenly, I feel a bit of pressure to write. I’ll warm up—please be patient with me!

Last night, C and I attended an auction held by two reputable brands, and it was an amazing evening. Picture this: glasses of Moët & Chandon and ORIGINAL Picasso and Chagall pieces among so many other “pinch me” artists.

Standing in a room full of art I studied in school, surrounded by other art lovers, is NOT where I thought I’d be if you’d asked me just a few months ago. So much has changed; I’ve grown so much, and my loud laugh carries so much more weight now. I feel like me again.

Back to last night—when I say I stood still and soaked it all in, that’s exactly what I did. In front of me was an original Picasso, double-sided and hanging from exposed beams by wire, against a vibrant pink wall. It was stunning.

As I wandered around with one of my favorite humans by my side, I was amazed by two things: the incredible skill and medium understanding artists have, and just how different each person's taste is. There were artworks I barely looked at, while others stood for minutes, admiring and finding hidden meanings that resonated with them. Meanwhile, those chaotic pieces exploding with color and character drew me in, while others found them loud and obnoxious.

I love that. We were all there to have fun, sipping bubbles and enjoying what was in front of us. Being in our mid-twenties, C and I don't have the means to place any bids, let alone engage in a bidding war. We were there to look fancy, then head home and have leftovers since it’s the middle of the month. Plus, I had already consumed my body weight in macarons!

Last night, I felt like the life my varsity bestie K and I spent hours dreaming about while sipping wine was alive in that moment. I am a business owner, I have my darling C by my side, and I’m in a place where work doesn’t feel like a job. I’m learning every day, growing, and networking—all while holding a glass of bubbly or Sauvignon Blanc in my hand, surrounded by the people I love and with my family cheering me on.

Te, you are living your life, girl. x
